Following reports on US actor Tom Cruise's intention to shoot first-ever outer space action, Russia wants to take the lead in an international race.
According to a statement by Russian space agency Roscosmos, Russia intends to make the first-ever movie in space with Yellow, Black and White studio, one of the largest production studios in Russia, behind the efforts.
“The plot will include a flight to the International Space Station (ISS) scheduled for autumn 2021 on the Russian Soyuz MS crewed spacecraft,” reads the statement, adding, “The movie aims to popularize Russia’s space activities, as well as glorifying cosmonaut profession,”
This comes after Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise reportedly partnered with Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX and NASA to shoot the first narrative feature movie – an action adventure- in space.
